Arm and Leg Stretching
Private MEVA Hospital
In the arms and legs, rapid weight gain and loss, age-related decrease in skin elasticity, or genetic factors can lead to sagging and skin looseness over time. This condition can appear in younger individuals or become more pronounced in later years. Stretch marks and deformities accompanying the sagging can cause aesthetic discomfort.
The weakening of the subcutaneous support tissues, the uneven accumulation of fat tissue, and the decreased ability of the skin to tighten create the need for arm and leg lift surgeries. These surgical procedures help achieve firmer, smoother, and more youthful arm and leg contours.
How Is Arm and Leg Lift Surgery Performed?
During the surgery, appropriate incisions are made from areas determined based on the intensity of sagging and the patient’s needs. Excess and loose skin, along with subcutaneous tissues, are carefully removed, and the area is reshaped.
In arm lift surgery, the scars are usually hidden along the inner side of the arm or close to the armpit, in areas that are difficult to notice from the outside. In leg lift procedures, the incision scars are placed along the groin area, the inner thigh, or the natural fold lines below the buttocks.
Arm lift surgeries are often performed in combination with liposuction. This allows for the reduction of excess fat tissue, making it easier to safely remove more sagging skin.
Surgery Duration
Arm lift surgery: 2–3 hours
Leg lift surgery: 2.5–4 hours
All procedures are generally performed under general anesthesia.
Post-Surgery Process
In the first few days after surgery, mild to moderate pain may occur. This pain is controlled with prescribed painkillers and gradually decreases over time. In the initial period, the arms and legs may experience:
A feeling of tightness
Swelling
Light bruising
To help reduce swelling, it is recommended to keep the hands and feet elevated during the recovery period.
Patients are usually discharged after 1–2 days of observation in the hospital.
Recovery Period and What to Pay Attention To
Swelling and bruising usually subside within a few weeks.
Patients can typically return to work within 7–10 days.
Wearing a corset for about 1 month is recommended.
During this period, heavy exercises should be avoided, and arms and legs should not be overextended with strenuous movements.
All swelling should completely subside, and the final shape of the arms and legs will take between 6 months and 1 year to be fully achieved.
