Eyebrow Lift (Forehead Lift)
Private MEVA Hospital
As time progresses, factors such as genetics, stress, lifestyle, eating habits, and the effects of gravity lead to noticeable changes in the forehead and brow areas. Deepening lines on the forehead, drooping brows, and wrinkles between the brows can make the facial expression appear more tired, unhappy, or stern than it actually is.
Brow lifts and forehead lifts are aesthetic surgical procedures aimed at rejuvenating the upper part of the face, reducing lines on the forehead and between the brows, and repositioning the brows, which may have fallen over time, to a more ideal position.
How Is Brow Lift Surgery Performed?
Brow lift and forehead lift operations can be performed using two different techniques based on the patient’s needs and facial structure:
Open Surgical Method
In this method, an incision is made in the scalp to free the forehead area. The underlying muscle structure is adjusted, facial muscles are regulated, excess skin tissue is removed, and the forehead area is tightened. This method is preferred in cases that require more comprehensive intervention.
Endoscopic Method
In the endoscopic brow lift technique, a few small incisions are made in the scalp to perform the procedure. Special cameras and surgical tools are used to regulate the muscles from the inside, and the brows are moved to the ideal position. This method offers smaller incisions and a faster recovery process.
Surgery Duration and Anesthesia
Brow lift surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia, and the procedure usually lasts between 2 and 3 hours. After the operation, a drain may be placed in the forehead area, typically to be removed the next day.
What to Consider During the Post-Surgery Process?
Mild pain may occur in the first few days, which can be controlled with painkillers.
The patient is usually discharged after one night in the hospital.
Swelling around the forehead and eyes may appear, reducing within 3–5 days.
Bandage application, keeping the head elevated, and cold compresses are recommended to reduce swelling.
Stitches are usually removed within 7–10 days.
The recovery process varies from person to person, but most people can return to daily activities in a short time.
